The history of the cereal industry in the Frolovsky district of the Volgograd region is inextricably bound up with the history of the Don Cossacks. In the geographical description of the Don Territory (1791), it was noted that on the banks of the Archeda River "there are farms and mills where there is a fair amount of cattle breeding and tillage."
The Cossacks spent most of their lives on campaigns and porridge was the main food. Cossack always had fried millet with him. When cooked it it turned out to be tasty and energy food. Kulesh, salomaha was cooked during the halt, in a bowler, at the stake. The word "kulesh" comes from Hungarian köles - millet. This is a very thick fish soup - millet porridge with river fish or its giblets (rahmanki).
The peaceful everyday life of the Cossacks rarely passed without porridge. “After the cold dishes, they served hot cabbage soup, chicken soup cooked with “Saracenic millet” and raisins, and other equally appetizing dishes. Then they served pancakes, noodles, kashnik, milk porridge and, finally, ure-porridge: plain millet porridge seasoned with syuzma (sour milk),” this is how V.D. Sukhorukov describes the festive feast of the Cossacks.
Frolov farm was first mentioned in published materials in 1859. The main occupation of Frolovchan was grain farming. When the construction of the Tsaritsyn-Gryazi railway began in 1868, it gave impetus to the growth of the farm. Cossacks began to move to Frolov from the surrounding farms and villages.
In 1898, F.D. Kryukov in his essay described the Frolovsky district as follows: "Wings spread in the air are an indispensable belonging of each settlement of the Don region. Wherever you look, you will see several windmills everywhere in the distance, near farms, villages, on mounds and elevated places.
The 1915 reference edition states that in Frolov farm had three steam and several windmills: two of them were grits mills, processing grain into cereal. One of the steam-powered mill was built in 1902 and belonged to I.I. Chebotarev. This mill became the foundation of the enterprise and lasted until the end of the 1960s.
Already in 1902, the most modern equipment of BUHLER company was installed at the grist mill. Almost 100 years later, during the construction of a new, modern plant, equipment from the same manufacturer was installed. During the 1917 revolution, the enterprise became state-owned.
The new era for the country has begun including new ideals, new goals, and new slogans. Frolov farm became the city of Frolovo, Archeda station became a major railway junction. Only the Chebotarev grits mill worked in old-fashioned way until 1941.
When the war began, most of the employees of the enterprise went to the front, and women stood up to the machines. In 1942, when the front line approached Stalingrad, the Nazis began to heavily bomb the Archeda station and the city of Frolovo. Despite the incessant bombing, the enterprise continued to work and supply food to the front.
In June 1942, the Nazis bombed the plant. This is how the master of the groats factory A.D. Popov describes this time in his memoirs as follows: “The bomb hit the top floor of the factory building, disfigured the farms and destroyed the walls of the top floor, the building cracked itself. The second bomb hit the packer room of the plant. The plant caught fire, all equipment burned down. The grain of millet burned, "the vultures" intensified the raid, but, despite the bombing, the fire was extinguished.”
The personnel was dissolved, only a few people remained for enterprise protection. The Nazis crossed the Don River and came close to Stalingrad, and food was required for the front with increasing intensity. There was a lot of grain on the enterprise territory. All attention was paid to how to help the Stalingrad Front, defend The city of Stalingrad , and every person was sure that "the vultures" would not take the city. " Three employees of the enterprise restored part of the equipment of the cereal factory and after a while the military units took the millet from the enterprise to the front of Stalingrad.
After the war, the cereal factory building was restored. And in the late 1960s, two modern elevators were built in its place. In 1999, a modern cereal factory, Archeda-Product LLC, appeared next to one of them.
Since 1999, a new page has begun in the product line of the enterprise. In addition to traditional cereals, various types of cereal flakes began to be produced. The KRUPNO brand was registered in 2001. The brand line included more than 47 items of delicious, nutritious and environmentally friendly products: flour, breakfast cereals, bran, and cereal.
In 2004, the company registered the DELIKA brand. In the product line of the brand there are instant foods - porridge, granola, breakfasts, side dishes.
Time turns inexorably the pages of history, but there are things that never changed. These are the preservation of traditions and high quality of products, that meet the modern requirements of life, as well as people, who have remained loyal to their work for centuries, people who, in addition to skill and talent, are distinguished by great love for this hard job.
